Mask

Mask (Noun) - a covering for all or part of the face, worn to conceal one's identity

?It's an interesting definition isn't it
I'm lying, it isn't.
But Masks are interesting.

So many Characters have worn them:

So many different reasons; to be a hero, a disfigured man in love, a hidden king.  Each of these characters wore masks.
I found their stories interesting, because they all needed to hide themselves from the world.

Part of me wonders how effective they were in the end though...
After all no matter what type of mask it is, they eyes are always showing.

Is it so you can see the world?
Or so that the world can see you?

Masks have changed a bit, they've gotten trickier:
They've become permanent.

I can't really fault people for it though, because in the end they're just turning what's invisible into what's tangible.

I think I'd be a hypocrite if I judged them, because the truth is that we all wear masks.
The clown face drawn on the mask is not a tiger
Always smiling, the angle of the lips never changing
Always wishing everyone to be happy as his birthday wishes
But the concerned greetings and hugs always feel like negative 10 degrees

He's full of vagueness and his expressions change habitually
His expressions are only skin deep anyways
He's full of mystery and he performs habitually
Turing the illusionary truth into disarray

Under the clown mask you are happier then everybody
But you can't hide, the redness around your eyes
The clown mask shows an expression of innocence
Hypnotizing you to sleep in a boundless dream

Who can see my real face?
The pain of not tearing, smiling yet not really
Who can see my real face?
Do a magic trick and take the mask off

Whether we choose for our masks to remain hypothetical or not, we all wear one. What is the face we present to the world if not a mask?  It's not wrong or terrible, simply true. Unless you present all of yourself to the world the side that you show is your image; your mask.

I said this before though, it's not wrong or terrible.
I don't think that masks are always fake.
It's just that sometimes they aren't the whole truth.

  3. masks are a really interesting concept. Even though I'm a pretty open person for the most part, I still hide a lot of myself from the people closest to me and in society in general. sometimes i wonder how people would perceive me if i were to take off my mask. I also think people create masks for you. People don't treat me the way i am as a human being which is unfortunate.
